Description COLUMBA IN IONA When Columba, then known as ColmChille, later as Columbanus, was a young monk he caused a war over his unauthorized copy of a sacred text and regretting the loss of so many young warriors in that conflict he was exiled to the holy island of Iona where he studied in the scriptorium. He produced many manuscripts and fascinating letters over his lifetime as he became the great missionary we study to this day. He died and was buried in Bobbio, Italy Please Share!
