NIGHTLIGHT A welcoming light guides the traveler across the snowy landscape towards the warmth of a night’s shelter in the old abbey. The Nightlight is really special for me personally, as I am part of the Irish diaspora, the candle in the window has a special resonance, it always symbolizes that I am welcomed back to Ireland, to my Dad’s home, where my heart is. The hand-enhanced sprinkles of snow and touches of metallic gold and silver give it an extra glow of warmth. -Suzanne FitzPatrick PEACE DOLMEN CARROWMORE The Carrowmore Dolmen with the large words of PEACE is universally important and especially in Ireland, North and South, Christmas can be stressful for some, but when I look at this image I immediately feel calm. It’s not religious but it has an ancient spiritual connection to our Celtic heritage.-Suzanne FitzPatrick This artwork was for a beautiful series of thermographic raised-printed cards on heavy textured paper with embossed details, published in the 1980s by Acalla Cards in County Clare. They were probably the most beautiful cards of my artwork have ever seen and are real collector’s items.
