Description Black Rose Silk Scarf The Story Black Rose is one of Thin Lizzy’s most successful albums and one of the covers I am most proud of. As a scarf, I am blown away at the depth and richness of color, front and back of the scarf. Black Rose was released in 1979, 31 years ago, I can’t believe it’s so long ago, it seems like yesterday Philip was hounding me on the phone, telling me to hurry up as I worked through the night to meet the deadline for the record company. I had to spray the blue graduated background by hand (no photoshop in those days) and it was tricky, so late into the night, so close to the deadline. My daughter Suzanne was my able assistant then, holding the hairdryer, drying out the background, so I could apply another layer of paint. It’s taken all this time for us to collaborate again, as she adapts my art to become beautiful scarves.
