Description You Know This Cover You’ve looked at this artwork more times than you can count. On vinyl, on CD, on a bedroom wall, on a t-shirt. You’ve traced the lines of it with your eyes — the Overlord towering over everything, the four figures breaking out, that unmistakable energy that made it feel more like a comic book splash page than an album sleeve. That wasn’t an accident. Philip Lynott showed Jim FitzPatrick a copy of Fantastic Four #77 — a Jack Kirby masterpiece — and told him that was the energy the cover needed. Phil insisted the Overlord, not himself, should be the centrepiece. Jim drew the four band members with a Rotring Rapidograph, then took a blade and etched directly into the dried ink to carve in shadow and detail. The fingernails were cut in individually. It was hand-drawn at a level of precision that nobody attempts anymore. Fifty years later, Jim has gone back to the original and remastered it. The 15-inch image is larger than the 12-inch album cover and printed on Hahnemühle Metallic Rag — a heavy, textured fine art paper with a metallic finish that brings out depth and detail the original sleeve could never show. You think you know every inch of this cover. You don’t. Not like this. From Jim’s Studio to You Every print is produced by Jim FitzPatrick himself. He prints it, square cuts it, signs it, numbers it, and embosses it with his studio logo. Your print is packaged and posted directly from his studio. No warehouse, no middleman. The hands that drew the original in 1976 are the same hands that prepare your print.
